Escher Web Sketch
Not really a paint program, it allows you to draw repeating patterns in the style of Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher. You can select the symmetry of the patterns by, drawing tools, pattern size, pen size and color. Escher Sketch was created for designing periodic decorations. This application is a good teaching tool for the illustration of basic crystallography courses.

Program for creating animated 2D models (shapes that fall, walk, run, bounce, and roll). It is also can be used to demonstrate basic physics concepts.

Good paint program, with most of the options found in shareware programs like Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. Don't expect it to be either of the programs listed above (it was written by one person, and it's free) none the less, if you need a paint program and don't have the money for a commercial paint program, this is very good.

Note: Most Photoshop plug-ins can be used with Paint Shop Pro and other paint programs, and editors. Just because it is a Photoshop plug-in doesn't mean you can't use it with another paint program. Check the help file of your paint program to see if the program supports Photoshop plug-ins.
