Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate)
Generic Viagra Information
What Is Generic Viagra?
Viagra is the brand name of a product the Pfizer company uses to market sildenafil citrate. Because it is a brand name, no one other than the Pfizer company is allowed to market a product called viagra.
The term generic viagra is used to refer to products that are chemically identical to viagra, but sold under another name (usually sildenafil citrate or another name chosen by the company that sells it).
Sildenafil citrate is the chemical name of the little blue pill known as viagra. In the 1990's the Pfizer company was doing research with a chemical that was being tested to treat angina.
During clinical trials it was noticed that the drug did not help angina sufferers, but some of the men who were taking part in the tests reported they got an erection when their penis was stimulated by touch.
Even more important was the fact that men who had previously been diagnosed as impotent were getting the same results as men who had no history of erectile dysfunction. Impotence, also called erectile dysfunction, is not being able to achieve and maintain an erection to orgasm.
Pfizer decided to test sildenafil citrate for treating impotence with some very impressive results. Viagra was then patented in 1996, and in 1998 it was approved by the F.D.A. as a medication to treat erectile dysfunction.
Does Generic Viagra Work?
Yes generic viagra is a legitimate medicine that works, unlike some viagra rip-off products like herbal viagra, natural viagra, and other substances that do not work.
Generic viagra works exactly the same as brand name viagra when used as a treatment for men who have difficulty having and maintaining an erection (impotence). 50 milligrams of generic viagra will produce the same results as 50 milligrams of brand name viagra.
Sildenafil citrate works by enhancing the effects of one of the chemicals the body normally releases into the penis during sexual arousal. This allows an increase of blood flow into the penis. An erection is the result of this increase in blood flow.
Generic viagra should be taken 30 minutes or longer before sexual activity and is effective for 4 to 6 hours in most users. If you follow the same precautions when using generic viagra as you would with brand name viagra, it will produce the same results.
50 milligrams is the recommended standard viagra dose size for most individuals, but some people require 100 milligram doses. Alcohol and fatty foods can limit the effectiveness of viagra, and should be avoided when viagra is being consumed.
Why Buy Generic Viagra?
Like most drugs, the brand name drug costs a lot more than the generic equivalent. Generic viagra costs a fraction of the price you would pay for brand name viagra. Brand name viagra costs about $125-$250 for twenty doses, if you buy 100 milligram pills and split them yourself.
For less than $200, you can buy over one hundred doses of generic viagra (sildenafil citrate) online, if you buy 100 milligram pills and split them yourself. A pill splitter will cost less than $20 at a local pharmacy.
Generic Pharmacy and Affordable Rx are two online pharmacies that sell reliable generic viagra and other medications at great prices, but not everyone else does. There have been multiple cases of pharmacy owners selling medications that did not have the amount of medication it was supposed to.
The worst case was a Chinese company that marketed a product they called generic viagra. When the product was analyzed, it was found to contain absolutely no sildenafil citrate.
If you are thinking about ordering generic viagra from a pharmacy other than Generic Pharmacy or Affordable Rx, make sure you know someone who has had dealt with them before, and had positive results.
If you are interested in a product that is similar to viagra, but produces longer lasting results, check out tadalafil (sold under the brand name cialis). The effects of viagra last 4-6 hours while cialis lasts 24-36 hours. Like generic viagra, generic cialis is cheaper than the brand name product.
