Cialis (Tadalafil)

What Is Cialis (Tadalafil)

Cialis is a brand name for a substance with the chemical name tadalafil. It is used to treat men who experience difficulty having and maintaining an erect penis for satisfactory sexual performance.

Cialis was approved by the American Food And Drug Administration on November 21, 2003. It was first marketed by Lilly ICOS LLC, a joint venture between Eli Lilly and ICOS Corporation.

Cialis produces results similar to viagra, but the effects of cialis last longer than viagra. In addition, cialis is not as sensitive to small amounts of food and alcohol. But like viagra, cialis will work best when consumed on an empty stomach when alcohol is not being consumed.

Viagra should not be taken with any food (especially high fat foods) because food slows absorption of viagra in the human body. When viagra is ingested with any amount of alcohol, the alcohol may cause viagra to be ineffective.

The most common cialis dose size is 20 milligrams, but some men find 10 milligrams is enough. Cialis should be taken orally 30 minutes or longer before sexual activity.

Medical testing has shown that cialis is effective for about 90% of men with psychological impotence (cause by things like stress, fatigue, anxiety, depression), and 70%-80% of cases when used to treat erectile dysfunction caused by physical factors.

How Does Cialis Work

Medications like cialis, viagra, and levitra work by inhibiting a chemical called phosphodiesterase type 5. Because of their mode of action, these drugs are commonly referred to simply as PDE5 inhibitors.

When a man gets sexually excited, it triggers cells in the penis to produce nitric oxide. The increase in nitric oxide will in turn cause production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). The cGMP causes arteries in part of the penis to relax and allow more blood to flow through them. The increase in blood flow causes an erection.

If the enzyme phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) is of sufficient quantity, it will attack the cGMP and erection will not be maintained. Cialis and other PDE5 inhibitors reduce the amount of PDE5 available to attack cGMP. With a reduction of PDE5, most men are able to maintain an erection to orgasm.

How Long Do The Effects Of Cialis Last

The effects of cialis have been shown to last 24 to 36 hours in a majority of users. The effects of viagra have been shown to last 4 to 6 hours in a majority of users.

Some men like the fact that cialis works for up to 36 hours and allows the user and his partner to relax, forget about planning intimacy and let things happen when the moment is right.

24 to 36 hours might seem ideal but some men report they switched back to viagra because 6 hours or less was what they preferred.

Taking cialis does not increase sexual desire and it will not give you an erection for 36 hours. Most men who take cialis report that for up to 36 hours after taking cialis, an erection can be sustained when the penis was stimulated by touch. In a lesser number of men, thinking about or seeing something sexually stimulating is enough to cause and maintain an erection.

After orgasm, the penis will usually return to its pre-aroused state. Some men with erectile dysfunction may be able to have one or more orgasms after the first but this an exception. In most cases, within 36 hours of taking 20 milligrams of cialis, you will be able to get and maintain an erection to orgasm one time.

Most men that have had more than one orgasm from a single dose say they had the first orgasm within 90-240 minutes of taking cialis, then were able to have one or more orgasms by waiting 60 minutes or longer before any more sexual activity was attempted. This is something the user will have to experiment with to find out their own particular climax capacity.

How To Buy Cialis

Cialis is available by prescription only. You can talk to your doctor about getting a prescription or you can buy cialis online. A prescription will be issued by a doctor after you fill out a questionnaire at the online pharmacy that sells the product. The only product that works exactly like cialis is generic cialis.

Cialis Cautions, Side Effects, And Warnings

Cautions:
Cialis should not be taken more than once in a twenty four hour period.

An erection that lasts over 4 hours should be reported to a physician, right away.

Cialis should never be combined with viagra, levitra, or any other erectile dysfunction medication.

You should not take cialis if your physician has told you not to have sexual activity because of health problems.

Tramadol (sold under the brand names ultram, tramal, and others) can cause impotence when consumed by itself. If ingested while under the influence of tramadol, cialis (or viagra or levitra) may not work.

Some of the active ingredient of cialis remains in your body for more than 2 days. The active ingredient can remain longer if you have problems with your kidneys or liver, or you are taking certain other medications.

Stop sexual activity and get medical attention if you get symptoms such as chest pain, dizziness, or nausea during sex. Sexual activity can put an extra strain on your heart, especially if your heart is already weak from a heart attack or heart disease.

When cialis is taken with grapefruit products (grapefruit juice, fresh grapefruit, etcetera), the grapefruit can reduce the amount of cialis the intestines absorb. This can reduce the effectiveness of cialis and increase the chance of experiencing side effects.

Excessive alcohol use may limit the effect of cialis. Drinking alcohol while taking cialis may increase your chance of:
getting dizzy
getting a headache
increased heart rate
lowering blood pressure.

Side Effects:
The most common side effects when ingesting cialis are headache, indigestion, back pain, muscle aches, flushing, and stuffy/runny nose. Side effects will go away a few hours after ingestion. Back pain and muscle aches can happen 12-24 hours after taking cialis, but the pain will usually go away after 48 hours.

In rare cases there is potential risk of myocardial infarction (heart attack), priapism (a painful medical condition where an erect penis stays erect without stimulation for more than 4 hours), severe hypotension (abnormally low blood pressure), stroke, sudden hearing loss, and ventricular arrhythmias (fast heart rhythm).

Although there have been rare cases of visual disturbances associated with consumption of cialis, visual disturbances are less common with cialis than with viagra or levitra.

Warnings:
Do not take cialis without consulting a physician if you take:
--- erythromycin
--- blood pressure medications
--- medicines for HIV or antifungal medications
--- alpha blockers (often prescribed for prostate problems)
--- medicines called nitrates (often prescribed for chest pain)
